Exclusive Feature: As the last quarter of 2012 kicks off, there's only one thing to look forward to: new hotel openings in 2013.
Here are my five hotel new hotels on the horizon for 2013:
New York: The much-anticipated Park Hyatt is set to open in New York City. The Manhattan Park Hyatt will become the U.S. flagship of the Park Hyatt brand of hotels. Designed by world-renowne architect Christian de Portzamparc, the new Park Hyatt stands tall at 157 West 57th Street, boasts 210-rooms and will share space with luxury residences. The hotel will also feature a bar and restaurant, plus 5,000 square feet of retail space and include a spa, fitness center, and indoor swimming pool in a three-story aerie at the top of the hotel.
London: The Shangri-La will be occupy floors 34-52 of London's tallest building, The Shard. Its 185 guestrooms and 17 suites will measure among some of the largest in the city, and offer amazing views of the city. Rooms include beds with body-contouring technology, LCD televisions and high-def technology. The hotel will also feature an infinity pool and fitness center, a restaurant, lobby lounge and bar and a "food theatre" cafe with several cooking stations, aimed at giving diners a dramatic sense for the culinary arts.
Bangalore: The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore will be the luxury hotel group's first hotel in India, and is slated to open in mid-2013. Plans for the 250-room hotel include several restaurants, extensive meeting and events space, a luxurious spa and outdoor swimming pool, and an entire floor dedicated to high- end retail store boutiques.
Dubai: The InterContinental Dubai Marina is prepping for its grand opening, said to take place in the second part of 2012. As part of the new Bay Central development on the Dubai marina, this hotel will have panoramic views of the city and the Arabian Gulf from its 132 hotel rooms and 196 residential suites. There will also be a Club InterContinental, eight restaurants, various bars and clubs, and a spa and fitness center.
St. Petersburg: The Four Seasons Hotel Lion Palace St. Petersburg opens within a 19th-century Russian royal palace in 2013. The hotel has 177 guest rooms and 26 suites, a glass-topped spa, restaurants, bars and stunning views of Saint Isaac's Cathedral, Alexandrovksy Garden and the landmark Admiralty.
