  • Through its Travel For Good programme, the Company continues to promote a tourism model that combines social and economic profitability with purpose and transparency

Meliá Hotels International has been included for the ninth consecutive year in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2026, the industry benchmark publication that recognises companies with the best sustainability performance worldwide.

In this edition, the company has been distinguished as the Top 10% of its sector, Hotels, Resorts & Cruise Lines, a milestone that confirms its international leadership in sustainable tourism and the robustness of its strategy to integrate ESG criteria throughout its value chain.

According to the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), Meliá achieved a score of 77 out of 100, ranking first hotel group in Europe and third company globally in its sector, behind Thailand's Asset World Corporation (a real estate group with an owned hotel portfolio) and the technology company Amadeus.

Among the highlights, the company obtained the maximum score —100 points— in areas such as Transparency & Reporting, Materiality Analysis, Tax Strategy & Governance, Emissions Reduction Targets, Biodiversity Impact Mitigation, and other key dimensions of responsible business management. Meliá also recorded significant improvements in strategic areas including supply chain management, waste management programmes, water management and the social dimension, with notable progress in human capital, human rights and occupational health.

Recognition in the Sustainability Yearbook —the world's most comprehensive and prestigious corporate sustainability assessment— represents a powerful external endorsement of Meliá's commitment to a sustainable growth model that creates value for the destinations where it operates and strengthens the trust of customers, investors, employees and other stakeholders.

As Gabriel Escarrer, President & CEO of Meliá Hotels International, explains:“In a global context marked by challenges such as climate change, evolving regulatory frameworks, tourism-phobia or the talent shortage, this recognition reinforces our determination to lead, through measurable achievements, the necessary transition towards a more sustainable hospitality sector. As leaders in leisure hospitality for seven decades, we embrace with enthusiasm the responsibility and legacy of continuing to maximise the positive impact of our activity on our people, the communities we operate in, and the natural environment of our destinations."

In this edition, S&P Global assessed more than 9,200 companies, of which only 848 earned a place in the yearbook. In the Hotels, Resorts & Cruise Lines sector, 57 companies were evaluated and only 6 were selected worldwide.

This accolade adds to the many recognitions Meliá Hotels International has recently received for its ESG performance, including its inclusion among the World's Most Sustainable Companies by TIME magazine, the World's Most Trustworthy Companies by Newsweek, and its position as sector leader in the MERCO ESG ranking —further consolidating its reputation as one of the most responsible and committed hotel companies globally.
