There's a lot of new hotel development happening in Shanghai, and there's about to be one more, one more very luxurious offering.
Bulgari Hotels & Resorts just announced it will open a new hotel in Shanghai in 2015.
According to news reports, which first captured the news from China's social media site, Weibo, the new Bulgari hotel will be situated in the district of Suhe Creek. This will the fourth hotel in the Bulgari family.
Francesco Trapani, president of LVMH Watches & Jewelry and great grandson of Sotirio Bulgari, founder of the eponymous Italian brand, said in a Weibo post: "I believe this new Bulgari Hotel will bring to China an unparalleled standard of luxury."
Without question. Bulgari is known worldwide as a leader in luxury amenities, and has recently boosted its hotel efforts, most noticeably with the opening of the Bulgari London this past spring. Bulgari also has hotels in Bali and Milan.
Shanghai is no stranger to welcoming luxury hotels. The city boosted its luxury status when the Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong, opened in 2010. Just last week, the new Four Seasons Hotel Pudong, Shanghai.
WWD fashion magazine reports that the Shanghai Bulgari hotel will have 120 rooms and will be located on the upper 12 floors of a 40-storey building designed by London-based architectural firm Foster + Partners. The story says the hotel will also include a rooftop swimming pool, a ballroom and a 21,600-square-foot spa.
