The current tense social climate has not had any impact on the results of the industry, even better:  the occupancy rate of the Parisian hotels progressed in a spectacular manner the day before and during the strike and massive demonstrations against the "First job contract" (CPE) that took place on the 28th of March.

On a « similar day » (Monday compared to Monday), the 27th of March posts 13.7 additional points in comparison to the 28th of March 2005, which corresponds it is true to the Easter Monday, and the Tuesday 28th of March 10.7 points, in comparison to Tuesday the 29th of March 2005, with an occupancy rate close to 90% (hence the best Tuesday of the month).

Hardly 4 months after the urban riots of November, we observed once more the resistance of the hotel results to the sudden street demonstrations, in spite of an often alarmist media coverage of the events abroad.

During this month when Business customers are in majority in Paris, we can suppose anticipated arrivals and/or delayed departures in order to avoid transportation problems. The stays, which are extended, have a direct impact on the hotel occupancy of the Capital, which is in net increase in comparison to last year during the same period.

However, the probability of a decrease in reservations from the international leisure segments in the coming weeks is not excluded.

Finally, the month of March concludes itself with a 2 point increase in the occupancy rate and a 4,5% increase of the RevPAR for the Parisian Hotel trade.
