David Beckham is Bringing his Charm to China Hotels.
By Melanie Nayer ~ Weekly Exclusive - Views On The Latest Trends
Wednesday, 11th December 2013

Exclusive Feature: Celebrities aren't strangers to hotels; many of them even have them  own: Ralph Lauren, Bono, Clint Eastwood and Robert DeNiro, just to name a few; Now joining the celebrity hotel craze is England's own David Beckham, and he's coming to China.

The Las Vegas Sands Corp. announced that Beckham would be assisting in the development of "dining, retail and leisure concepts" at the Sands properties in Macao and Marina Bay, Singapore. We're not entirely sure what Beckham will be doing, but his star power might be all the hotel group needs to drive attention.

"Here in Macao, Sands China has worked to not only transform the tourism industry by providing a diverse set of entertainment offerings, but also by seeking out active engagement with renowned brands and providing a unique experience to the people in and around this area of the world when they visit Cotai Strip Resorts Macao," said Edward Tracy, president and chief executive officer of Sands China Ltd.

"David Beckham's well-known personal values and his endeavors in both business development and community outreach make a perfect match for our two brands to come together in a way which is sure to positively impact the Asian market."

Las Vegas Sands is the world's leading developer and operator of Integrated Resorts with a collection of  hotels and resorts in Asia and the United States. In Macao the company owns and operates a portfolio of properties on Macao's Cotai Strip, including The Venetian Macao, Four Seasons Hotel Macao, and Sands Cotai Central.

In Singapore, the company owns and operates Marina Bay Sands. According to a statement, Beckham will be lending his hand to the dining and retail concepts in the hotels.

Beckham added: "The Sands team has created amazing resorts in Singapore and Macau. The scale, vision and caliber in all that they do is impressive. I am very excited to be working with them to develop a range of new business ideas in a part of the world that I love spending time in and is full of optimism and growth."

What we'll see from Beckham and his new Asian hospitality ventures is anyone's guess, but I'd wager a few dumplings on some gaming rooms, speciality suites and a few namesake restaurants.
