A conversation with Ms Zeynep Bengi Nasser, General Manager of A'jia Hotel Istanbul, winner of the 2009 Condé Nast Johansen's Award for Excellence as 'Most Excellent Charming Hotel' in Europe.

What is unique about your hotel's location?

A'jia Hotel is set directly on the shores of the Bosphorus on the Asian-side of Istanbul. It doesn't get more romantic and exciting than this if you're looking for a true Istanbul experience in an authentic Ottoman mansion.

What authentic local experiences will guests have access to?

Local fish restaurants (where locals go)
Bosphorus Dinner Cruise
Shopping at the Grand Bazaar
Bar Hopping at the shores of the Bosphorus.
Visit "Old Town" with "Sultan's Caique"
Turkish Bath in one of the historic "Hammams"

What are some amazing things that your Concierge can arrange?

Private Boat tours
Anjelique – Reina – Sortie triple Club Experience transfer via speed boat (Summer)
Chauffeur guided shopping trips in the "old town" and new malls.

Does your hotel have a philosophy?

Make our guests feel like a "Sultan" in an authentic Ottoman Mansion.

What makes your hotel memorable and unforgettable?

The design, Bosphorus location, personalized service and award-winning cuisine.

What will guests rave about to their friends and family?

The first thing you see when you wake up in the morning is the "Bosphorus running before your eyes".

What is the atmosphere of your hotel? What types of guests does it attract?

A genuine Ottoman Summer Mansion with contemporary design features on the interior. Sophistication hidden in the details and level of service. High-end leisure and business seeking an individualized experience.

What makes your hotel a destination within itself?

The dramatic Bosphorus setting and the Boutique concept.

Do you have a favorite meal in your restaurant(s)?

Oven baked tomato soup followed by Blue Fish "Baklava". Final touch with chestnut soufflé for dessert.

What is the best way for guests to "arrive in style" to your hotel?

Our own vintage "Lobster Boat".

Do you provide any welcoming or parting amenities to guests?

Oh yes, this is one of our specialties and we get very creative.

Can you recommend other destinations/hotels nearby (within 300 miles) that your guests should consider combining into a trip?

In summer they should certainly see Cesme in Izmir City (approx 300 miles) or Bodrum (1 hr flight). Gocek blue trip would also be unforgetable.

In winter they may want to consider Uludag, a ski resort with top end lodges.
