Marriott International, Inc. has been named one of the 50 "Great Places to Work," according to the November issue of Washingtonian magazine.
"Marriott is pleased to be recognized by Washingtonian magazine," said Brendan Keegan, executive vice president, human resources, Marriott International. "We are very proud of our associates, and pleased Marriott continues to be recognized as one of the best places to work, not only in the Washington, D.C., area, but nationwide as well."
Marriott was cited for its career development, associate recognition and benefits. In addition, the company's international headquarters was recognized for its childcare and fitness center.
Washingtonian's "Great Places to Work" list was compiled through a questionnaire sent to area companies, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, law firms and universities. The questionnaire asked about benefits, work atmosphere, motivational efforts, community involvement, and other workplace-related issues.
The company has been widely recognized by industry leaders and consistently appears on listings of outstanding places to work, including Fortune's "100 Best Companies to Work For," Latina Style's "50 Best Companies for Latinas to Work For in the U.S.," and Working Mother's "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers." Marriott was also ranked number one in the lodging industry by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and received the Catalyst Award for advancing women's leadership.
