Marriott Rewards also receives top honors as favorite loyalty program.
Marriott has been ranked the top hotel chain in BusinessWeek's first annual hotel survey of nearly 1,200 subscribers. BusinessWeek, in its October 27 issue, cited Marriott as "the winner by a wide margin," chosen by 24 percent of respondents-or two-to-one preference.
According to BusinessWeek, subscribers also chose Marriott Rewards as their favorite loyalty program. Marriott Rewards is the largest frequent guest program with 19 million members and 2,300 participating hotels. Members can choose from more resorts, spas and golf than any other program.
The BusinessWeek survey found high-speed internet access as one of the most important services or amenities for business travelers, calling it the "real surprise" and quoting an industry expert as saying, "That's an area you're going to see a lot of hotels focus on in the next year." Marriott already has more than 1,000 hotels offering high-speed internet access worldwide.
Marriott Hotels & Resorts was also recognized in the current issue of Consulting magazine, which gave it a grade of A+ in its "The Best Places to Stay, 2003 Hotel Report Card." The magazine noted Marriott's "laser focus on business travelers" for its success.
