Singapore hotels encouraged to go green, 3R launched.

The 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) Programme, an initiative aimed at helping hotels achieve better waste management and increase recycling rates, has been launched for the hotels in Singapore.

A joint collaboration between Singapore Hotels Association (SHA) and the National Environment Agency (NEA), this programme is part of NEA's effort to encourage different industry sectors to play their part in achieving the recycling rate target of 70% by 2030.

Estimated figures have shown that hotels in Singapore produce about 60,000 tonnes of solid waste a year and less than 10% of the waste is being recycled.

Approximately 35% of SHA-member hotels have already signed up for the 3R programme.
