At the inaugural Australia-China Tourism Summit, Australian Minister for Tourism, Martin Ferguson, unveiled the country's China 2020 Strategic Plan, a document outlining the strategy to boost tourism relations with the growing Chinese market.
The summit is part of the government's approximate US$32 million commitment to the Chinese market, which is currently worth over US$3.2 billion a year to Australia and is expected to bring in double this amount yearly to the country's economy within a decade.
To tap into this growing potential, Minister Ferguson has made the call for substantial new investment in the Australian tourism industry.
