In the past 12 months, Asia travel brands have seen huge growth in Facebook usage and fan bases – with AirAsia continuing to maintain leader position for the past two years.

The low cost airline was the first Asia travel brand with more than 100,000 fans across all its Facebook pages. This year, AirAsia was the only company to hit the 1,000,000 fans barrier.
And when it came to number of fans, four out of the top five on the list were airline brands.
These were some of the findings presented at one of the complimentary workshop sessions conducted by full service digital agency, water& stone, at Eye for Travel's TDS Asia 2011.
The report was a snapshot of Asia travel industry's market leaders in Facebook engagement. Asia, in this case, includes Australia, New Zealand, Korea and Japan, but does not include India – the focus was on English language pages.
In 2010, the top three countries with highest number of Facebook users in Asia were Indonesia, followed Philippines and Malaysia.
