According to a leading Shanghai tourism official, China is able to sustain the existence of up to three Disney theme parks, implying the feasibility of a Disneyland in Shanghai.
It was further reported that costs and travelling distance were cited to be the two main factors affecting the viability of the theme park as opposed to its location.
From the same source, it was commented that the proposed Shanghai Disneyland might be ten times larger than the Hong Kong Disneyland and expected to be driven by the private sector.
