Spa by day, Bar by night.

Spa & Lounge leads a double life - A full-service spa by day and bar and lounge by night, Gansevoort Spa & Lounge at the Hotel Gansevoort isn't always what it seems.

Opening February 2006, Gansevoort Spa will raise eyebrows by becoming the country's first spa/bar hybrid.

Massage and mingle.  Sip and soak.  Indulge and imbibe.  Gansevoort Spa will be a place for men and women to unwind and socialize; a place to chat over manicures and pedicures during the day and martinis at night.

Spa by Day

The 4,300 sq. ft. spa will feature three infinity-edge hydro pools for soaking, including a freshwater pool for treatments; three private treatment rooms; a spacious steam room; a Hiro Haraguchi hair salon and a bar and lounge.

Additionally, rooftop couples massages and manicures and pedicures will be offered in a private cabana in the hotel's garden. Gansevoort Spa's bar, serving healthy drinks and spirits, will feature a new, Japanese-influenced spa menu from Ono restaurant.

Treatments at Gansevoort Spa will restore and replenish the mind and body.  Spa Director Christine Salata, bringing with her years of spa experience at Acqua Beauty Bar, has designed a menu that will feature "the best products from leading skincare lines" including Epicuren, REN, Trilogy, Sonya Dakar, MD Skincare and Anakiri.

With an emphasis on pure, natural ingredients, each facial will be fully customized, marrying a variety of products. Fiji bottled water, with its high mineral content, will be used for manicures, pedicures and facials. Also, rare Himalayan salt, which is rich in minerals, will be used in its raw form in pedicure and soaking treatments.

The spa's Hiro Haraguchi Hair Salon will offer hair cuts, blowdrys (available in-room for hotel guests), and expert coloring. This will be Hiro Haraguchi's second location in Manhattan; complementing his prestigious salon on East 57th Street.  Services there range from hair styling, master coloring, Japanese hair detox with "Micromist" and thermal hair straightening to make-up application.

Day to Night

Envisioned by Robert D. Henry Architects, Gansevoort Spa takes its look from day to night effortlessly. Treatment rooms become VIP lounges with their cozy benches multi-tasking as storage, while teak cabinetry does double duty, housing spa equipment and products. Highlighting the persimmon-colored painted glass walls of the treatment rooms with backlighting casts a sultry glow on the space. Glass coverings placed over the hydro-pools complete the transformation.

Bar and Lounge by Night

Scott Sartiano and Richie Akiva of Butter, a hybrid restaurant/night club in New York's East Village, will run the nightlife portion of Gansevoort Spa & Lounge. The bar and lounge will serve a creative cocktail menu and savory Japanese-style small plates from Ono. Music will be played by a live DJ.

In addition to being a bar and spa, Gansevoort Spa was also designed for use as an event space. Flat-screen televisions were added to the VIP/treatment rooms and retractable projection screens were installed over the hydro-pools to use for movie screenings, presentations and parties.  The entire space is also wired with a state-of-the-art sound system.

24-Hour Gym

Adjacent to Gansevoort Spa is Hotel Gansevoort's new, 24-hour fitness center (guests only), with state-of-the-art Life Fitness cardio and weight machines and free-weights. The gym's mirrored walls cleverly hide LCD televisions that can only be seen from behind the mirrors.  For gym and spa patrons, there are generously-sized men's and women's locker rooms, which have full vanities, marble rainfall showers and teak cabinetry.

Sleek and stylish, Hotel Gansevoort is the first luxury, full-service hotel in Manhattan's vibrant Meatpacking District.  For information and reservations visit www.hotelgansevoort.com
