Oscar Groups Acquired West Waters Hotel in Melbourne

Australia-based Oscars Hotels has acquired the West Waters Hotel and Entertainment Complex (“West Waters”) in Melbourne Caroline Springs at an undisclosed sum. The West Waters consists of a 98-key Mercure Melbourne Caroline Springs (“MMCS”), three food and beverage outlets, meeting and function rooms, and other entertainment facilities. The MMCS shared the three food and beverage outlets with West Waters, and features an indoor pool, a fitness centre, seven meeting rooms, an indoor playground, and an on-site car park with 150 lots. Accor will continue to manage the hotel under the Mercure brand, and West Waters will operate as usual while Oscars Hotels gets a better understanding of the Melbourne market and the business itself.

Far East Hospitality to Open First Vibe and Adina Hospitality Brands in Singapore

Singapore-based Far East Hospitality (“FEH”) has announced to bring in Vibe and Adina brands to Singapore. The Adina Serviced Apartment Singapore Orchard (“ASASO”) will be replacing the former Regency House in July 2022. The 88-key property will be situated between Penang Road and Oxley Rise Road, within proximity to the Orchard Shopping District. The Vibe Hotel Singapore Orchard ("VHSO") will be replacing the former Elizabeth Hotel by FEH in the last quarter of 2022. VHSO will be featuring 256 guest rooms and an Australian sports bar. The Chief Executive Officer of FEH, Arthur Kiong, envisioned that VHSO will be a place of gathering for the Australian market in Singapore, where there will be up to 30,000 Australian expatriates in Singapore. Both properties aim to convey the “contemporary Australian hospitality”. 

Dash Living to Open Two Co-living Properties in Singapore

Hong Kong-based Dash Living (“DL”) has announced to open two Co-living properties in Singapore, Dash Living on Mackenzie (“DLOM”) and Dash Living on Kinta (“DLOK”). DLOM features 40 ensuite units, a social lounge, pay-per-use laundrette services, an outdoor kitchenette, and a rooftop area. DLOM will be located near Little India MRT Station. DLOK features 30 ensuite studio and two-bedroom units, a rooftop garden with a plunge pool and other facilities. The founder and Chief Executive Officer of DL mentioned that opening the first standalone property in Singapore demonstrates the company's commitment to the market. Additionally, DL has achieved a 95% occupancy rate in 2021, which shows an increasing demand in the Singapore rental market.

Philippine Department of Tourism to Reopen 50-year Mount Data Hotel in Bauko

The Philippine Department of Tourism (“PDOT”) will reopen the 50-year Mount Data Hotel (“MDH”) in Bauko this month to kickstart sustainable tourism within the region. During the pandemic, PDOT spent up to PHP40 million (approximately USD754,091) on the renovation and marketing of MDH. The 24-key property that features two conference rooms, a restaurant, a lounge, and a sun terrace is strategically located in between Baguio City and the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Cordillera rice terraces. Situated 2,195 kilometres above sea level and within a 7.7-hectare pine tree plantation and vegetation, MDH enjoys chilly weather all year round. Mount Data was built by the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (“TIEZA”) in 1960 to promote tourism and is known as the venue of the signing of Mount Data peace accord.
