Thailand remains one of the top destinations among GCC travelers and ranked among top 5 countries for COVID-19 response.

Wego has entered a partnership with Tourism Authority of Thailand to take travelers on an inspiring travel experience to explore the best of Thailand and to invite them to visit the country as soon as the restrictions are eased and once borders gradually open to all travelers.

GCC remains one of the most valuable inbound markets to Thailand. The country is considered one of the safest destinations to visit during COVID-19. It has been ranked fourth out of 98 countries worldwide for its response to the COVID-19 pandemic in a poll conducted by a prominent Australian-based academic think tank.

Thailand is planning to safely and slowly reopen welcoming international travelers to the country with special tourist initiatives, while also remaining vigilant by enforcing strict public health guidelines to protect all during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The new campaign is poised to enhance awareness of Thailand’s leading tourism destinations including Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Surat Thani, keeping Thailand foremost in traveler’s thoughts. It sheds the light on the many exciting experiences and iconic landmarks to be seen in Thailand, allowing travelers to enjoy the best Thai tourist attractions and discover each one's history. Wego will provide the ultimate destination guide to its MENA travelers across its diverse targeted marketing channels.

Pichaya Saisaengchan, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand for Dubai and the Middle East, commented: “Thailand has taken strides in taking the necessary precautions to safely reopen its borders and we can’t wait to welcome visitors from the region back to our shores. The ‘Amazing Thailand Safety and Health Administration’ (SHA) certificate has enabled us to elevate the travel and tourism industry standards of the Kingdom and develop confidence among international and domestic travellers. Thailand radiates beauty and has so much to offer - from nature and beaches to food and culture along with mesmerizing island escapes. We want to convey to travellers from the region to ‘Get Ready for Amazing Thailand 2021’ and encourage Arab Millennials and travellers from the Middle East to engage with local communities by discovering off-the-beaten path regions such as Kanchanaburi, Trat and Phang-Nga, in addition to exploring the stunning plains and hills of the Golden Triangle and the white sand beaches of Phuket and Samui.”

Thailand provides the best of everything, from beaches, food, nature and culture along with the mesmerizing island escapes. In addition to the stunning plains and hills of the Golden Triangle to the wave-lapped white sand beaches of Phuket and Samui. The country radiates beauty and has so much to offer that one visit is never enough.

Mamoun Hmedan, Managing Director, MENA and India, Wego, said: “Thailand remains one of the top destinations for GCC travelers. Partnering with the Tourism Authority of Thailand gives us the opportunity to promote this marvelous destination to our large audience in the MENA region. We look forward to forging a long-lasting partnership which will benefit both Wego travelers and the Tourism Authority of Thailand.”

According to a study conducted by Germany-based travel company Tourane in August 2020, Thailand topped the list of the world’s safest destinations to visit during the COVID-19 pandemic.
