The Tourism Ministry requests from Michelin an independent study on Israel’s gastronomy standing and potential, the conclusions of the study will be an important tool for the Tourism Ministry to improve gastronomic tourism and to measure Israel’s culinary scene against other parts of the world.

Further to the increase in incoming tourism and rapid tourism development, Israel continues to position itself as a leading and vibrant tourism destination. In an attempt to further develop Israel as a gastronomic destination as part of the tourism experience, the Israel Tourism Ministry is currently studying the gastronomic potential of the country, and, in particular, its competitive position relative to culinary capitals around the world.

As Michelin is considered to be a global reference for gastronomy, the Tourism Ministry requested from Michelin an independent study on the country’s gastronomy standing and potential. The study is currently ongoing using the Michelin expertise, with the final report to be presented to the Tourism Ministry by the end of 2017.

The research findings will serve as an important tool for the Tourism Ministry in promoting culinary tourism and as a measure of Israel’s competitive standing on the international culinary scene.
