Barry Hong, CEO of August Hotels & Properties was asked by the Pacific Asia Travel Association to write an article about the last thirty years of hotel development in China since 1978 - A Review of the Issues and Trends That Have Impacted the Hospitality market in the People's Republic of China.
Mr. Hong has extensive expertise as a Canadian developer and hotelier who first travelled to the People's Republic of China in 1979.
He then worked with Dunning & Associates and FGI Hong Kong during the mid 1980's to the 1990's, when he travelled extensively throughout China seeking development and investment opportunities from Shanghai to Hainan Island.
With FGI, he was responsible for the development of the Westin Tai-Ping-Yang, Shanghai and the Westin Resort, Coloane Macau.
