Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is pleased to announce that it has once again been named as one of the top 100 companies to work for in Canada, according to the fourth edition of Richard Yerema's best selling book series, Canada's Top 100 Employers.
For the second consecutive year, North America's largest luxury hotel brand was the only hotel company featured on the prestigious list, which was also featured in the most recent issue of Maclean's magazine. The award, among many that recognize Fairmont Hotels & Resorts as a leader within the hospitality industry, is a special source of pride to the company's 23,000 colleagues worldwide.
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has been noted for a culture of encouraging employee growth and development through internal training programs and financial support for those pursuing work studies. Other key drivers contributing to Fairmont's status as one of the country's preferred employers is its employee recognition program, Service Plus, and its generous employee stay rates to encourage travel between the portfolio's hotels. The organization is also commended for a brand wide commitment to corporate philanthropy, which involves Fairmont colleagues in their communities. Initiatives include the support of local women's shelters through the ''Adopt A Shelter'' program and participation in an award winning environmental stewardship program dubbed, Fairmont's Green Partnership.
The latest edition of Canada's Top 100 Employers featured intense competition with a greater number of companies vying to be recognized by this authoritative guide. The practices of over 51,000 employers were tracked initially, with over 6,000 of these companies submitting applications for consideration. The extensive application process evaluated each organization's operations and human resource practices. The seven key areas that were scrutinized included: 1) Physical Workplace; 2) Work Atmosphere and Social; 3) Health, Financial and Family Benefits; 4) Vacation and Time Off; 5) Employee Communications; 6) Performance Management; and 7) Training and Skills Development.
