Hong Kong travelers: luxury on tight budget.

The Hotel Price Index (HPI), a regular survey of hotel prices in major destinations across the world, found that Hong Kong travellers can stay at five-star luxury hotels for under HK $1,000 per room per night.

Travelers who are looking for a luxurious travel experience can stay at five-star hotels in Guangzhou, Taipei and other cities near Hong Kong. Berlin, Nice, Venice, Brisbane and Orlando are ideal for those wishing to visit overseas.

Take Beijing as an example, a 5-star hotel room would have cost you approximately HK$1,082 per night in 2010, the price was 28% cheaper comparing to the price found in last HPI survey and it also marks Beijing as the city with the cheapest five-star hotel price.

Bangkok, one of the most popular travel destinations of Hong Kong travellers shows a 2 % decrease in its five-star hotel accommodation price.

Berlin, Frankfurt, Vancouver and many other global renowned travel destinations have also showed significant price decrease in their four-star hotels' room price.

Johan Svanstrom, Vice President and Managing Director of Hotels.com Asia Pacific, said the survey showed the price of some five-star luxury hotels are decreasing slowly. "There are savings on offer for five-star hotels of which some travellers might not even be aware. Astute travellers might find themselves paying the same price for a five-star property in a location a little out of the way as they would for a three or four star hotel in a tried and tested place. Browsing and researching the rates on Hotels.com can end up saving travellers money on accommodation that is better spent on activities whilst on holiday or gifts for loved ones back home,"
