The building of the Basra Sheraton, which has been in rehabilitation since six months, will be opened in mid Sept 2010.
"The rehabilitation project has been executed by a local firm at a total cost of $55 million," a local media source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
He noted that the hotel will activate tourism in Basra.
The Basra Sheraton's building was heavily damaged during the military operations in 2003 and the looting that followed in the aftermath .
The oil-rich city of Basra lies 590 km south of Baghdad.
