Jumeirah has been appointed to manage a luxury hotel in the Yangtze River Delta tourism hub of Hangzhou, China.

The agreement between GT Land Holdings Limited and Jumeirah Group was signed at a ceremony held today in Hangzhou and attended by Mr. Gerald Lawless, Executive Chairman of Jumeirah Group, and Mr. Su Meng, President of GT Land Holdings Limited.

The 250-room, five-star luxury Jumeirah Hangzhou will have a prime location in the Central Business District of Qianjiang River New Town. The new business district will be centrally located with easy access to the picturesque West Lake area, renowned for its natural beauty and its rich cultural heritage. Hangzhou is one hour train journey from Shanghai and is served by Xiaoshan International Airport.

The architects Skidmore Owings and Merrill (SOM) have incorporated water terraces, bamboo groves and canals into the design of the hotel. Guests will have access to numerous food and beverage outlets, a banquet and conference centre and extensive retail and shopping facilities in the vicinity.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Gerald Lawless thanked Mr. Su Meng for the confidence he and his company have shown in Jumeirah Group as a hotel management brand. This is the second management agreement Jumeirah has signed with GT Land Holdings, following the Jumeirah Guangzhou project agreed in 2008.

This brings Jumeirah's total number of management agreements for projects in China to five: in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Macau, Sanya and now Hangzhou.

It also brings the total number of management agreements signed by Jumeirah globally to 35.
