The World's Best Awards results are based upon an online survey in which Travel + Leisure readers evaluated hotels on five characteristics: rooms and facilities, location, service, restaurants and food, and value.
Among the Top 100 hotels worldwide are the following Shangri-La properties:
- Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong
- Pudong Shangri-La, Shanghai
- Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa, Kota Kinabalu
- Shangri-La's Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei
The following six properties were named among the Top 25 City Hotels in Asia:
- Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong
- Pudong Shangri-La, Shanghai
- Shangri-La's Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei
- Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong
- Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok
- China World Hotel, Beijing
Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa in Kota Kinabalu placed among the Top 15 Resorts in Asia. Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney placed on the Top 15 City Hotels in Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific, while Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver was voted to the "Up and Coming" list by the editors of Travel + Leisure.
The results of the publication's 14
th annual readers' poll will appear in the magazine's August 2009 issue. The publication calculated the average rating of each characteristic and tabulated each property's overall score.
