The latest opening in the strong expansion strategy, and soon a third hotel, in the capital Abu Dhabi.

Situated in the new urban precinct of Al Seef, Mövenpick Hotel Al Raha Beach Abu Dhabi is scheduled to open in 2012. With these plans, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts underlines its strong expansion strategy in the United Arab Emirates.

In cooperation with ALDAR Properties PJSC, the international hotel chain of Swiss origin had already announced in October 2007 that it would manage a modern 500-room hotel on Yas Island from 2010.

A further contract has now been signed for the management of an additional 300-room resort on Al Raha Beach in the highly anticipated residential district of Al Seef.

"Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts and ALDAR Properties PJSC both stand for best facilities and services, and we are very pleased to implement these projects conjointly and to set new standards in Abu Dhabi's hotel landscape", says Paul Bell, Managing Director ALDAR Hotels & Hospitality.

The development of the new urban district of Al Seef covers waterfront properties on the mainland as well as on the surrounding islands and will offer direct beach access.

Besides the upscale Mövenpick Hotel Al Raha Beach Abu Dhabi, the plans include, among other things, contemporary apartments, villas, shops and designer boutiques as well as restaurants and gardens. The comprehensive entertainment programme includes both water sports and wellness facilities.

"This agreement with ALDAR Properties PJSC reinforces our commitment to offer passionate Swiss hospitality in the Middle East in general and in Abu Dhabi in particular", Andreas Mattmüller, Senior Vice President Middle East & Asia Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts adds. "ALDAR Properties PJSC develops some spectacular building projects such as those on Al Raha Beach and Yas Island, and we are proud to be able to position our brand in both top-locations."
