Better ports needed in Dubai.

To promote tourism and enable Dubai to fully emerge as a prominent destination of world tourism, it has been noted that there is a need to up-grade port facilities.

Mr. Khalid A. Bin Sulayem, Director General of DTCM held a meeting with Omani delegation to discuss the improvements in facilities for the cruise passengers and crew at the ports of the region.

The delegation from Oman comprised Mr. Saud Bin Ahmed Al Nahari, Chief Executive Officer of Port Sultan Qaboos, Mr. Salim Bin Adey Al-Mamari, Director General of Tourism Promotion, Mr. Khalid Al Zadjali, Acting Director of Tourism Events Department, and Mr. Aymam Saad Bait-Saleem, Section Head Marketing. Earlier he received them this morning. Mr. Awadh S. Alketbi, Executive Director, Cruise Terminal was also present in the meeting.

The meeting noted that it was important to up-grade the facilities at the ports to emerge as prominent destinations on the map of the world tourism.

The delegation is visiting emirate to enhance the cooperation between Dubai and Oman for promotion of tourism with special reference to Cruise tourism.

The delegation also discussed the possibilities to share the experiences and exchange of the expertise for improving the facilities at their respective ports to attract tourists across the globe.

The Omani delegation on Tuesday visited the Dubai Cruise Terminal in Port Rashid  where they were received by Mr.   Awadh S. Alketbi.

They took a round of the state-of-the-art terminal, operated by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).

The ship-shaped cruise terminal measures 3300 square meters and is able to accommodate two ships simultaneously on a 335-metre quay.

The delegation appreciated the facilities provided at the terminal for the passengers and crew of cruise ships. They were also informed that the number of cruise passengers was growing gradually.
