The Peninsula Manila re-opened for business Monday 3rd December 2007 at 3.00pm, following its recent short closure.
It's business as usual as The Peninsula prepares to welcome back its guests and patrons, with rooms and suites, restaurants and banquet rooms ready for a busy December in the run-up to the holiday season.
The Peninsula's signature Lobby maintains its customary position as Manila's premier meeting place, and the lavish decorations, majestic Christmas tree and festive carols promise a Christmas to remember.
The Peninsula's celebrated Christmas Concert at The Pen will also take place as scheduled on Saturday 8th December. Celebrating its 24th anniversary this year, this popular annual event hosted by the hotel to thank the community will be even more meaningful this year, given the peaceful resolution to recent events.
As Manila's premier location for weddings and special events, The Peninsula was the venue for the wedding reception of newly-weds Guderian Montano and Ma. Estela Magpayo when the celebrations were abruptly interrupted last Thursday.
The hotel intends to invite Mr. and Mrs. Montano to return for a weekend stay at a premier suite – compliments of The Peninsula – as a gesture of goodwill.
"While last Thursday's events were certainly a confusing and distressing experience for everyone, we are extremely pleased that everything is back to normal and we are able to open the hotel again so quickly" said Peninsula Manila General Manager David Batchelor. "We look forward to welcoming back our guests, patrons and friends to the hotel to celebrate the holiday season with us".
The Peninsula Manila considers the safety of its guests, patrons and staff to be of paramount importance, and so guests and staff were moved out of the hotel as quickly as possible as last Thursday's events unfolded. Hotel guests were accommodated in neighboring hotels overnight, and then returned to The Peninsula next day to collect their belongings.
The hotel was closed temporarily to assist the investigations of the authorities and repair work to commence on the areas damaged during the incident.
