Dubai is focusing on introducing new services and improving existing facilities, to become the world's friendliest airport for people with special needs, according to Paul Griffiths, CEO Dubai Airports.
He said that as part of its strategy to facilitate easy movement of people with different kinds of special needs, Dubai Airports has planned an internal awareness campaign and training courses for the front-line staff at Dubai International.
New facilities such as lower check in counters will also be installed at the airport in due course, he said. He held a meeting aimed at reviewing the efficiency of existing special needs facilities at Dubai International, including special handling offices in departure, arrival and concourse areas, and services for travellers with special needs.
Apart from exchange of views and ideas on issues of travel and special needs, the invitees – representing a cross section of the UAE society also gave their valuable feedback after completing an audit on the facilities and services provided by DIA to travellers with special needs in the arrival, departure and concourse areas of the Terminal 1.
