High performing wireless hotspot service are delivered at hundreds of public locations, as part of the Singapore Government's Wireless@SG initiative - a program offering three years of free Wi-Fi service to residents and visitors in an effort to boost the country's wireless Internet usage and become a more globally connected nation.

Colubris Networka announced that iCELL Network has adopted solutions from Colubris to enable wireless Internet access throughout the entire downtown and eastern regions of Singapore.

As part of the Wireless@SG deployment, Colubris MultiService Access Points (MAPs) and MultiService Controllers (MSCs) will be installed at some of Singapore's most popular public venues, such as shopping centers, cafes, libraries and hotels. iCELL selected Colubris MAPs for its network due to their deployment flexibility, ability to integrate with the operators' existing architectures, ease of use and the product's proven reliability and exceptional performance.

"Colubris and its local team are longstanding, trusted partners, with a strong technology offering and an impressive track record of successful global deployments with leading wireless carriers and enterprises," said Ken Chua, CEO of iCELL. "Colubris will allow us to quickly roll out high-quality Wi-Fi access, while providing a smooth migration path and scalability as we choose to add applications, such as voice over IP, for Wireless@SG subscribers. D- Synergy, Colubris' Singapore distributor, has provided excellent backend technical support throughout the project."

"Colubris is a committed vendor with one of the industry's leading wireless LAN solutions," said Doreen Sim, managing director of D-Synergy. "We are proud to partner with Colubris to offer the best support services for valued wireless Internet service providers like iCELL Network."

As part of phase one, Colubris MAPs will be installed at more than 100 locations, with a thousand public area hotspots to be added to the iCELL network throughout the coming year.

"Colubris is excited to play an integral role in an initiative to make ubiquitous wireless Internet access available on such a grand scale," said Rob Scott, president and CEO of Colubris. "Our architecture gives wireless operators flexibility to deliver multiple Wi-Fi services and its robust centralized management capabilities ensure reliable low-cost operation."
