Over 100 million votes tallied in the firstever global election and the results of the New7Wonders campaign, were announced in Lisbon's Benfica Stadium.
In the random order in which they were announced by hosts Bipasha Basu, Hilary Swank and Ben Kingsley, the New 7 Wonders of the World, as chosen by the people of the world, are:
- The Great Wall of China
- Petra
- The Statue of Christ Redeemer
- Machu Picchu
- Chichén Itzá
- The Colosseum
- The Taj Mahal
New7Wonders Foundation President and Founder Bernard Weber and Amir Dossal, Executive Director of the United Nations Office for Partnerships, presented plaques to all finalists.
The star-studded ceremony featured international personalities including New7Wonders Panel of Experts and former Director-General of UNESCO Prof. Federico Mayor, Neil Armstrong, José Carreras, Joaquín Cortés, Chaka Khan, Jennifer Lopez, Bertrand Piccard, Dulce Pontes, Cristiano Ronaldo and Alessandro Safina. It was choreographed by Olympic ceremony veteran Jacques Lemay. The event was officially hosted by the President and Prime Minister of Portugal, with ministers, ambassadors and other representatives of the finalists in attendance.

The New7Wonders of Nature To close the ceremony, Bernard Weber announced the Foundation's next campaign, the New7Wonders of Nature, which will build on the phenomenal momentum of the first-ever global election and lift our natural heritage to the same level as that created by humans.
