The property has formally committed to actively combat the sexual exploitation of children, by signing the Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism, referred to as The Code.
An official signing took place and was attended by Mr. Luc Ferran, Program Co-ordinator of ECPAT International and Mr. Alasdair Junor, Area General Manager Evason Phuket & Six Senses Spa.
The signing of The Code is another step in leading the way as a social and environmentally responsible resort. It partners with the founding body and main driver of The Code, ECPAT International.
Strongly backed and funded by UNICEF, it is also supported by the World Tourism Organization. The Tourism Authority of Thailand belongs to the steering committee. The Code is currently implemented in sixteen countries worldwide, reaching thirty million travelers.
Evason Phuket has always voiced condemnation of the sexual exploitation of children, and has, by formally signing The Code, taken an active and leading role in addressing the issue.
Training of hosts to be able to recognize suspicious behaviour in the community and workplace is a key contributor as is the cooperation with ECPAT International and local authorities.
