Marriott most admired company.

For the eighth consecutive year Marriott was recognized by FORTUNE magazine, as the most admired company in the industry of hotels, resorts and casinos, . Marriott was the most admired company in Maryland and second-ranked in the greater Washington, D.C. area, which includes the District of Columbia as well as suburban Maryland and Virginia.

The "Most Admired" list is made up of companies that are ranked by executives, directors, and analysts in their own industry on eight criteria, including: innovation; people management; use of corporate assets; social responsibility; quality of management; financial soundness; long-term investment; and quality of products/services.

"Being recognized by the nation's top business leaders as the most admired lodging company is a true testament to our successful business model," said J.W. Marriott, Jr., chairman and chief executive officer, Marriott International, Inc. "We owe this honor to our experienced leaders, our great portfolio of brands, and above all, our dedicated associates."

Marriott was also recently ranked by FORTUNE as one of the "100 Best Companies to Work For." Additionally, Marriott has been recognized by:
