Renovations - Remodeling and Refurbishments top of mind at Fairmont, worldwide. As the needs of discerning travelers continue to evolve, so do the features and facades at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. In a steadfast effort to remain competitive in the luxury segment and offer its guests the very best in modern amenities, impeccable décor, and high-end features, Fairmont has recently completed or embarked upon several "home improvement" projects at a number of its properties. These include: - A favorite of spa enthusiasts, The Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club in South Florida is getting its very own makeover to the tune of $100 million. The extensive six-month renovation project, which began on July 10, 2006, will see the hotel closed throughout the duration of the refurbishment. Features of the redeveloped property will include two brand new championship golf courses designed by Hall of Fame golfer Raymond Floyd, renovated resort rooms and suites, all oversized and newly appointed, and a newly refurbished Spa and Fitness Center, redesigned to both calm and invigorate body and soul. Complementing these main project elements will be a redeveloped Ocean Club, featuring new cabanas, a new lagoon pool reminiscent of a tropical oasis, a new tennis complex with lighted clay courts for evening and tournament play, and a complete renovation and refurbishment of the resort's Golf Pro Shop. The hotel is expected to reopen in mid-December 2006.
- Located in an area well known for its love affair with all things beautiful, the Fairmont Newport Beach now boasts a $32 million makeover. Capturing the distinctive style of Southern California, the hotel redesign features sweeping changes to the property's 440 guestrooms including 54 lavish suites. Rooms offer Bose stereo systems, oversized soaking tubs, beautiful marble entries, pillow top mattresses with Egyptian Cotton linens, 32" High-Definition flat panel TVs, DVD and CD Players and high-end amenities from London-based perfumer Miller Harris. Additional refurbishments include upgrades to the hotel's state-of-the-art meeting facilities, a newly designed sky pool deck and new fitness facilities featuring Techno Gym equipment. Also, an 8,000 sq. ft. boutique spa will debut early 2007.
- Fairmont is wild about the upcoming improvements to its resorts and safari lodges in Kenya. The brand is set to begin a $35 million renovation program that will bring the properties inline with Fairmont's demanding service standards and add modern amenities such as high-speed and wireless Internet access. At Nairobi's most famous and celebrated address, The Norfolk, plans include extensive guestroom renovations, restaurant enhancements and some fine-tuning to the resort's meeting and public spaces. Nearby, the Mount Kenya Safari Club will undergo similar upgrades to the complex's exterior and grounds, guestrooms, and food and beverage offerings. Following renovations, the properties will be rebranded under the Fairmont flag in late 2007.
- With more than 36 activities and 65,000 acres to explore, Quebec's Fairmont Le Château Montebello has everything - including a new spa! Spring 2006 marked the opening of the new Spa at Fairmont Le Château Montebello, representing a $2.1 million investment. Featuring a design in harmony with the local landscape, the rustic resort's new 4,000 square-foot spa facility features four manicure and pedicure stations and eight treatment rooms including a couples' suite with fireplace, double-head jungle shower, two massage tables and a Japanese sunken tub. Treatments range from a Maple Body Scrub to a Green Blanket Signature Body Wrap. The addition of the new spa facility follows the recent renovation of ten of the resort's meeting rooms, consisting of new carpet and drapery, new heating and cooling units and acoustic and sound proofing partitions, giving the property's meeting space a fresh new look.
- The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is one of the oldest luxury hotels in the Canadian Rockies, though you wouldn't know it with it's refurbished rooms and charming new lobby. In late spring, the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise rolled out the second phase of a $12 million (CDN) room renovation project, meaning nearly all of its 550 hotel rooms are brand new or have been renovated - floor to ceiling - in the past five years. Design and colors throughout the rooms reflect the natural palette of the national park wilderness just outside the windows: soft sage greens, beige, dusty blue, taupe and creamy hues. Adding to this, the resort's expansive lobby is also being updated with richly appointed new furniture to affirm a feeling of spaciousness, while a revolving door at the property's main entrance will also be added to further complement the arrival experience. In advance of the winter ski season, the Chateau also plans to expand its ski/snowboard storage facility.
- Restoration is the name of the game at Seattle's historical icon The Fairmont Olympic Hotel. As part of a $650,000 grand lobby renewal initiative, guests are now greeted with new custom handmade carpeting and elegant furnishings. A prominent community gathering place, the space also received re-upholstered furnishings, newly polished marble floors and enhanced lobby lighting in order to better showcase the intricate architectural details and ornate woodwork. The lobby renovations follow other recent upgrades at the hotel that included grand new guest bathrooms and the addition of new plush mattresses.
- "Rustic elegance" is the only way to describe the enriched interior design at The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, where $5.3 million (CDN) has added shiny new bathrooms and deluxe refurbishments from fabrics and furniture to beds and lamps in 135 rooms and signature cabins. A total of 320 rooms, more than 75 percent of the Lodge's accommodations, were also renovated in the past year in a style reminiscent of a private family cabin. In the spa and pool area, the property has expanded the fitness space, redesigned change rooms giving the reception area a luxurious new look, and fine tuned treatment rooms to better reflect the overall spa concept. Meanwhile, Meadows, the brasserie and bistro-inspired restaurant on the lower promenade level, has expanded into neighboring retail space and added 40 additional seats to the existing 100.
- Local hoteliers are "green" with envy over the flowering additions at The Fairmont Washington, D.C. In April 2006, the hotel, known for its expansive interior courtyard, added a variety of new plants, trees and flowers that are indigenous to the Washington area. Flowering Cherry Trees, Crepe Myrtle Trees, Hydrangea, Rhododendron and Juniper bushes were all showcased with a unique new lighting system surrounding the courtyard's Istrian Marble Fountain. Several colorful perennials and annuals, including Mandevilla, Geraniums, Petunias, Begonias and New Guinea impatiens, were also added to brighten the view for hotel guests and visitors alike. The Courtyard, a local hotspot for weddings and other social events, also added new teak outdoor furniture and umbrellas for dining al fresco in the spring, summer and fall months. Adding to the new green scene, the hotel also got a lift with the recent completion of its Health Club renovations, which included the introduction of new Technogym equipment, new cardiovascular equipment complete with flat screen televisions, a newly innovative kinesis room, and a new selectorized free weight area.
- December 2006 will mark a major milestone for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in Hawaii - the culmination of a multi-year and multi-million dollar renovation campaign at The Fairmont Orchid, which has included the complete refurbishment of the entire resort. Highlights of the ongoing remodeling project included the renovation of all guestrooms and the addition of the brand's ‘hotel within a hotel' concept, Fairmont Gold. Before the refurbishment wraps up later this year, the hotel plans on completely renovating its two Presidential Suites and will embark upon extensive work at its Norio's Sushi Bar to lengthen the bar and improve the overall look and ambiance of the restaurant.
- Sometimes it's the small details that make the biggest difference. Several Fairmont properties have recognized this fact and embarked on smaller upgrades to enhance the guest experiences. Travelers to Silicon Valley can rest assure they'll get a good night's sleep during their next stay at The Fairmont San Jose. The city's grandest hotel recently upgraded and replaced all of its mattresses. All rooms and suites now feature Simmons® Elite Pillow Top mattresses, which offer the perfect combination of support and comfort. In July 2006, The Fairmont Chicago completed changes to its aria bar, which included a move to a new Pan-Asian food concept. Anchored by a sushi bar, the bar at aria now features communal tables for traditional Japanese noodle dishes, hand-rolled sushi, premium Saki and international beers and wine. Recognizing work and play often go hand in hand, the stately Fairmont Château Laurier has added a number of new features to Health Club offerings. New facility features include Precor Treadmills, Bicycles and Elliptical machines each with their own built-in flat screen televisions. At The Savoy in London, the historic hotel has given a fresh new shine to its famed American Bar, remodeled its fitness gallery, and added two new signature suites, The Royal Opera House Suite and The Monet Suite.
Featuring a collection of fabled castles, secluded lodges, storied meeting places and modern retreats, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts opens the doors to some of the world's most celebrated addresses. With locations throughout ten countries, our 50 distinctive hotels - including The Fairmont San Francisco, The Fairmont Banff Springs and London's Savoy - promise travelers rich experiences and lasting memories in unparalleled settings. Committed to growing its portfolio of world-class hotels, Fairmont will soon reflag four hotels in Kenya and anticipates the 2007 re-opening of New York's famed Plaza Hotel.
