Kempinski has signed agreements to manage two new city hotels in China and Indonesia, respectively Huizhou and Jakarta.

Kempinski's portfolio in Asia currently includes 10 open properties and, with the addition of these two new hotels, the group will open a further 19 hotels by end 2009.

Kempinski will manage an ultra-modern complex located in Huizhou's new industrial area near to the new city government. The newly built complex will feature a 380 room five star luxury hotel in one tower and a multi-storey office building with 30,000 m2 of office space in another tower, supported by a designer shopping mall in the base.

The Kempinski hotel will be perfectly suited for high level conferences and business travel, as its facilities will include a full service business centre, an 800 m2 ballroom and eight meeting rooms as well as a spacious spa and fitness centre to relax in. The hotel will also offer four restaurants including Kempinski's famous Paulaner Bräuhaus, a successful microbrewery concept first launched in Beijing.

The hotel is scheduled to open in 2008. Huizhou, which has extensive trade links with nearby Hong Kong, is set in a natural deep water harbour, the city is one of China's fastest growing and its port is expected to handle up to 120 Mio tonnes of cargo in the near future. With several Fortune 500 companies investing in Huizhou, the city is already known as a world leader in the production of electronic goods and mobile phones.

At the heart of Jakarta, Kempinski is set to manage a five star luxury hotel, which will open end 2007 as part of Asia's largest shopping and entertainment complex.

The hotel, originally the historic Hotel Indonesia, will be extensively remodelled before it reopens as a Kempinski hotel with 210 rooms and suites located in two buildings. Room sizes start at a spacious 50 m2 and the hotel's interior design will be inspired by contemporary Indonesian art and style.

In addition to a 60-storey office tower and a 54-storey residential tower, which will offer 200 luxury Kempinski Residences, the complex will offer 4000 m2 of exhibition and meeting space, the city's largest ballroom plus a 3000 m2 deluxe spa and fitness centre.
