Turning the page on a new chapter of enchanted glamour: Shanghai’s legendary Peace Hotel is set to be transformed into the Raffles Peace Hotel Shanghai.
Built in 1929 by Sir Victor Sassoon as the Cathay Hotel, this Art Deco masterpiece has been part of the Jinjiang Group since 1984, and joined the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts portfolio in 2010.
Honouring this illustrious past while looking ahead to its future, it will debut under the Raffles name in 2027.
The hotel will remain open throughout its renewal. Its refreshed design will capture the spirit of modern Shanghai while respecting the hotel’s storied past, preserving its treasures within.
“This magnificent hotel is a precious gem and a landmark in an all-important destination. As the stewards of such an iconic property, we are exceptionally proud to guide it into a glamorous new era with Raffles, and honoured to embark on the next chapter of our relationship with Jinjiang International, our valued partner,” said Omer Acar, CEO of Raffles Hotels & Resorts and Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.
With Raffles’ distinctive blend of British etiquette, Asian grace, and tropical splendour, Raffles Peace Hotel Shanghai will offer a world of inspiration, authentic culture and the distinguished culinary and bar experiences that well-travelled Raffles guests have come to know and love.
