Saudi Arabia lifts alcohol ban ahead of World Cup 2034

Saudi Arabia will allow the limited sale and consumption of alcohol in 2026, the policy will apply to select tourist zones and hospitality venues.

The plan supports Vision 2030 and aims to attract global investment ahead of Expo 2030 and the FIFA World Cup in 2034.

Saudi Arabia will allow the controlled sale and consumption of alcohol in 2026. The change is part of the country's preparations for international events, including Expo 2030 and the FIFA World Cup 2034.

Alcohol Sales

Alcohol sales will be limited to certain areas. About 600 places across Saudi Arabia will be included. These will mostly be luxury hotels, resorts and areas developed for tourists. Some examples are Neom, Sindalah Island and the Red Sea Project.
