Adelaide hotel booking levels show a spike during the upcoming AFL Gather Round, when looking at the four-day event period, hotel occupancy on the books is tracking 6 percentage points higher than the 2024 event four weeks out.

Occupancy on the books is as high as 90.6% for Friday, 11 April, when Collingwood faces the Sydney Swans. The next highest level is for 12 April (86.2%).

“All 18 Australian Football League teams will be in Adelaide during the week with this the third edition of the AFL Gather Round,” said Matthew Burke, regional director at STR.

“Strategically selected to fit within the Victorian school holiday period, this event continues to attract stellar demand with the hotel booking pace now ahead of the same time last year with four weeks to Opening Bounce.”

For comparison, in 2024, hotel booking levels were peaking at 84.0% for the second night of the event (5 April 2024) and 83.1% on the third night (6 April 2024).

When looking at actualized performance levels last year, the event drove record-high average daily rate (ADR) and revenue per available room (RevPAR) on 6 April 2024, at AUD405.03 and AUD359.85, respectively. The second-highest daily ADR (AUD389.65) and RevPAR (AUD343.82) were recorded on 5 April 2024.

CoStar’s world-leading hotel performance sample comprises more than 87,000 properties and 11 million rooms around the globe. Members of the media should refer to the contacts listed below for additional data requests.
