New World Vs Old World – Convergence or Divergence.
Wine For Asia, is outperforming its sales targets for 2006, barely five months to the event. It boasts of return exhibitors, extended partnerships with key trade and commercial bodies and new entrants into the 4
th showing. Wine For Asia 2006 is leaving a trailblazer as it wraps up its exhibitor promotion and focuses on its intensive international visitor promotional campaign.
Organised by Singex Exhibitions and Wine Resources, Wine For Asia 2006 is expected to attract 450 International & local wine exhibitors, 15,000 regional and local visitors, trade buyers from 40 different countries.
Wine For Asia 2006 has chosen a very provocative theme for this year's event: "New World & Old World – Convergence or Divergence" with the objective to stimulate thought, discussion and even friendly banter on how one sees world-wide wine styles adapting to market demands. To start off this discussion is Mr James Halliday who will be addressing the Asian wine fraternity and VIP buyers at Wine For Asia's opening on 2 Nov 2006.
"We are all very keen to listen to James Halliday's sharing on this hot topic which is very much discussed within the Asian wine circle." says Malcolm Tham, Wine Resources, Wine For Asia 2006.
James Halliday, Wine Journalist, Author and Winemaker is no stranger to Asian buyers and wine enthusiasts. He has just been presented the prestigious 2005 Saltram Australian Wine Communicator Award for his book, the Australian Wine Companion 2006, which profiles over 2,000 wineries and gives tasting notes on 4,500 wines.
James Halliday will also share insights into a topic which will interest every wine enthusiast - "Is Wine Making An Art Or Science?" at Wine For Asia's very own "Buyers-Host-Sellers Night". James Halliday is certainly the most appropriate person to talk on this, having written a book on "The Art and Science of Wine" which is co-authored by Mr Hugh Johnson. The "Buyers-Host-Sellers Night" is a unique feature of Wine For Asia where buyers from different Asian countries will play host to exhibitors, sharing with them not just the wine markets of their countries but also cultural, culinary and tourist information.
"Mr Halliday's presence at Wine For Asia 2006 certainly reinforces the growing importance of the event as THE key wine trade exchange in Asia." says Loy Joon How, Director, Lifestyle Cluster, Wine For Asia 2006.
"Our members are certainly pleased to meet James. We are working out a special event for him together with Wine For Asia. " says Dr Jen Shek Wei, the immediate past president of International Wine and Food Society in Singapore
