The DTCM markets of Dubai as a year-round business and leisure destination, at the Swiss Travel and Tourism Fair (TTW-2005) in Montreux.
The three-day show concluded on Thursday (October 27th, 2005). Mr. Khalid bin Nassar, Officer Overseas Promotions, represented the department at the 30th edition of the fair.
The DTCM has been participating in the Swiss Travel and Tourism Fair since the past nine years.
The Dubai stand measured over 24 square metres and featured booths of the co-participants - Alpha Tours, Dubai Golf Holidays, Knight Tours, Arabian Explorers and Sunflower Tours.
The Dubai participants, in addition to their networking with the local travel trade and government officials, highlighted different facets of Dubai and its attractions to the visitors of the fair. This included desert safaris, spas and resorts, golf courses and shopping opportunities.
Dubai has been recording significant increases in the number of Swiss tourists.
The year 2004 recorded a 50.4 % increase in the number of Swiss guests in Dubai hotels and hotel apartments compared with the previous year.
There was a nine per cent increase in the number of Swiss passengers utilizing the Dubai International Airport last year.
Up to 28 weekly flights are available between Dubai and Switzerland .
Two-way trade between Dubai and Switzerland recorded 21.9 % increase last year.
