While the far majority of exhibitions and events in The Netherlands were cancelled due to the global covid pandemic, the 8th edition of the Free From Food Expo went ahead in Amsterdam and was opened by the Danish Ambassador on Tuesday, November 23rd.
The 2-days exhibition, highlights innovation and sustainability in the global food industry, without gluten, milk products and animal products. The expo has 300 participating companies with close to 40 expert speakers and visitors from more than 65 countries.
Several countries, like the USA, Tunisia and Denmark have their own booth at the expo and as Demark leads the global free from and vegetarian movement, the ambassador himself came and visit.
Free from product are becoming more and more mainstream and are available in most supermarkets and the hospitality industry. In addition, consumer are becoming very much aware and expect these type of items to be easily accessible.
‘Initially we were concerned if we could pull off the expo successfully, but thankfully because our stringent covid-19 hygiene protocols, the expo could go ahead safely’ said Ronald Holman, Director of Free From Food Expo.
After Amsterdam, Free From Food Expo is scheduled for Barcelona, Bangkok and Sao Paulo in 2022.
