Guests in need of special service have come to the right place: from Fish Valets and Beach Butlers, to Snow Hosts and K-9 Ambassadors, service comes in all shapes and sizes at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, ready to assist each guest make the most out of their travel experience.
K9 AmbassadorsA number of Fairmont Hotels have gone to the dogs - Labrador Retrievers that is - with special ambassadors in place to welcome guests. Travelers missing their own furry friends or looking for a companion while traversing the town can walk the dogs, have doggie visits or give a tummy rub as they stroll through the lobby. In Vancouver Morgan and Holly, at The Fairmont Waterfront, and Mavis, at The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, are official members of the hotels' Guest Services Team. Catie, a black Lab originally trained with the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind in New York is now Canine Ambassador for The Fairmont Copley Plaza Boston -- all four dogs started their jobs when it was determined they were a bit "too frisky" for careers as assistance animals. Dakota, rescued by The Humane Society is the K-9 Ambassador at The Fairmont Winnipeg, while The Fairmont Washington, D.C. is taking canine care to a new level, volunteering to serve as a Puppy Raiser for Guiding Eyes for the Blind. Jana, a young black Labrador, recently joined the hotel's roster and for the next 14 to 18 months hotel staff will help prepare Jana for her future as a guide dog. When guests leave they can stay in touch, by sending ani-mails
Fish Valets
For those lucky enough to land the fish of their dreams in British Columbia, they can sleep well knowing their prize catch is safely stored steps away, courtesy of the Fish Valets at The Fairmont Vancouver Airport - in the hotel's 575 cubic foot, departures-level fish freezer, of course! Whether it's Spring Salmon or Halibut that took the bait, the hotel is luring guests from fishing lodges with the guarantee of frozen freshness for the flight home. The fish are stored overnight at 15 degrees Celsius and are then ready to be transferred directly from the freezer on the US departures-level to your flight. For those who'd rather enjoy their catch before heading home, let the chef prepare a feast worthy of your fishing prowess, complete with wine pairings.
Snow Hosts
Skiers don't need to interrupt a day on the slopes at The Fairmont Chateau Whistler to make plans for later. Fairmont's Snow Hosts, based at the foot of Blackcomb Mountain, are there to valet skis, provide a hot apple cider, share the top après ski spots or make dinner or even post-ski spa reservations. Winter outdoor winter enthusiasts can also rest easy at sister hotel Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu with the resort's very own Snowmobile Valets. These specialized valets guarantee a memorable day on the areas' vast trails by keeping the snowmobiles in tip-top shape and providing guests with inside info on the area's local surroundings. Another bonus for guests or locals arriving on their own snow sprinters is the resort's heated indoor snowmobile parking area, which keeps riders nice and toasty before they set out for a day of adventure.
Beach Butlers
Guests at The Fairmont Royal Pavilion don't have to worry while enjoying the surf, sun and sand - the Beach Butlers have surfaced in Barbados, poised to cater to seaside whims. From dawn until dusk, the Beach Butlers look after possessions while taking a dip, deliver tropical cocktails, provide towels, books and other beach essentials, fetch items left in the room, make dinner, spa or golf reservations or even change your flight home! Additionally, the beach butlers are all trained in CPR, lifesaving and first aid. Easily recognizable by their "uniforms" of colorful island shirts and straw bowler hats, the team offers full concierge service from the privacy of your beach lounge chair. At The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii, the Orchid Beachboys are a modern-day dimension of the legendary Waikiki Beachboys, who shared the Hawaiian culture and water sports like surfing and outrigger canoe paddling with visitors from around the world. Today's Beachboy (or Beachgirl), led by "Uncle" Gary Medina, a Waikiki original, share Hawaiian culture, such as native weaving with niu (coconut leaf) fronds, hikes to the nearby Puako Petroglyph Preserve, shoreline fishing expeditions, honu (green sea turtle) talks, water safety and much more.
