With the last hoarding taken down in the wee hours of the 3rd of June the Shangri–La Hotel, Shenzhen is excited to announce the completion of renovations.

There have been five phases of work which have included the new entrance canopy and front driveway, creation of a new east lobby with direct access to function rooms on the 3rd floor, new main lobby, a new shopping arcade and the lobby lounge. A brand new trendy lifestyle establishment, 360° Bar Restaurant and Lounge replaces the former Tiara Revolving Restaurant on 31/F and 32/F.

The completion of renovations coincides with the completion of Lowu District's traffic improvement programme and the Shenzhen's environment improvement programme around the Hotel vicinity. With that, green trees, tiled pavements broader roads lined both boulevards of Jianshe and Ren Min Nan Roads. A new Police Post was erected along Jianshe Road, right outside the Hotel.

Concurrently, the Hotel is now connected with the Hong Kong Border, Shenzhen Subway, Shenzhen Train Terminal, Shenzhen Inter-city Coach Terminal and the Luwu Shopping Centre by the new underground walkway system. These destinations are within 5 minutes leisurely walk, making accessibility a lot more convenient.

The designers, CL3 Architects Ltd, have created a harmonious and contemporary series of spaces whilst maintaining a warm and welcoming atmosphere.  Each area has individual elements and colours but all interconnect to form an integrated and inviting space.

The contemporary new canopy at the front entrance and oversized reception desks emphasised by contemporary crystal chandeliers and unusually shaped ceiling coffers announces the metamorphosis of the hotel and is an expression of the changes that had taken within.

‘Mocha' coffee bar sits compatibly at the front area of the lobby and provides great views of all hotel arrivals and departures.  The rich walnut timber combined with practical stainless steel and dark marble work surfaces at the counter area provide a comfortable ‘anchor' to the space.  The Coffee bar serves an excellent selection of specialty coffee and home made desserts.

Modern bronze sculptures mark the entrance to the lobby lounge, which is raised above the lobby level, and is sited under the natural light of a three-storey atrium. A central feature of the lounge is the two circular band platforms, interlocking and partly 'floating' over the pool. The lounge has a mix of contemporary and more classically styled furniture using timber and warm brown and gold fabrics with a hint of rust red in the loose cushions, dropped in for contrast.  The lounge is also equipped with a large buffet counter, complete with a working noodle station featuring with a variety of noodles.

The main and east lobbies are connected by a semi-open corridor.  This is flanked on one side by the smart shop fronts of the new retail outlets and on the other, by layered, ‘cloud' artwork screens which separate the corridor from the lobby lounge.  The rear lobby is a ‘baby brother' of the main lobby and incorporates a small reception counter combined with display counter, carved ‘cloud' artwork and a large oval crystal chandelier.
