Asia Pacific Tourism 2019 – trends, opportunities and the challenges facing tourism organisations
Friday, 26th April 2019
Source : Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA)

Tourism infrastructure improvements, high mobile adoption, expanding access to digital payments, and rising disposable incomes are fuelling increased tourism and online growth, however, the rapid changes have also brought fresh challenges to the region’s tourism organisations.

Increased consumer demand for a mobile, social media driven, personalised experience call for innovative approaches from travel marketers. At the same time, popular tourist destinations in some markets are struggling to respond to surges in visitation, and destination marketers grapple with issues like climate change, natural disasters, security and sustainability.

Using interviews with six tourism organisation leaders and Phocuswright market sizing and consumer research, this paper – commissioned by TripAdvisor – surveys key global and APAC travel trends and examines their impact on the region’s tourism organisations, identifying destination management approaches that can foster beneficial results and long-term sustainable growth.
