With the dawn of every new year comes plans for the future, and this is as true in the hospitality industry as anywhere else; Some big name brands have big plans for the year ahead, so let’s take a look at some of the key openings from hot luxury brands in 2018.
Edition Hotels to open seven new locations
Expert hotelier Ian Schrager’s EDITION Brand looks set to expand this year. It increases its global reach by adding seven new hotels to its portfolio across three continents. The new openings will join existing properties in Miami, London and Sanya. The prospective openings will be located in New York City, which will see the new EDITION Times Square boasting 450 guestrooms as well as a roof space for events in downtown Manhattan, Shanghai, Bangkok, Barcelona, Bodrum, West Hollywood and Abu Dhabi. The brand also plans to launch a further nine hotels internationally by 2020, bringing their portfolio to 20 by the end of the decade.
Preferred Hotels open 14 new hotels in 2018
2018 looks set to be a big year for Preferred Hotels, who plan on opening 14 new properties over the next 12 months. The new hotels will be located in premium destinations across North America, Europe and Asia. The Bobby Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee will open in spring 2018, and is a 144-key property that features a renovated 1956 Greyhound bus on the roof terrace where guests can get a unique view of downtown Nashville. The Montage Los Cabos in Mexico will offer guests a slice of paradise on their 39 acre beachfront property. A mixture of private residences and luxury suites, visitors to the hotel can pamper themselves at the spa or avail of the many marine activities provided by the hotel.
Six Senses expands portfolio by seven in 2018
Luxury brand Six Senses will grow its total number of properties by seven resorts and two spas in 2018. Six Senses Uluwatu, Bali is scheduled to open in March 2018, and will enjoy sweeping views of the Indian Ocean from its hilltop location. Speciality restaurants serve local cuisine, and as always with Six Senses resorts, there is a heavy focus on sustainable tourism. March also sees the addition of Six Senses Fiji on Malolo Island, which benefits from a 650m stretch of uninterrupted private beach and 66 private residences.
Rosewood Hotels opens landmark property in 2018
Rosewood Hotels will debut its latest offering in summer 2018. The Rosewood Miramar Beach Montecito will have the privilege of being the only resort with a private beach in all of Southern California. The hotel’s location is also famous for being the former site of the glamorous Miramar By The Sea Hotel, a once-popular getaway for the rich and famous.
