Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has once more topped the Best Business Hotel Brand in Asia-Pacific category in the Business Traveller Asia-Pacific readers' poll.
In addition, the group's first hotel, the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore, which last year celebrated its 30th anniversary, was awarded the prestigious Best Individual Business Hotel in the World and the Best Individual Business Hotel in Asia-Pacific, whilst the Makati Shangri-La won the Best Business Hotel in Manila.
Conducted among the magazine's readership of frequent travellers based mainly in the Asia-Pacific region, the poll was distributed to a total of 9,885 subscribers. Results were compiled by market research company NFO WorldGroup – Hong Kong and will be published in the October 2002 issue of Business Traveller Asia-Pacific.
Princess Ubol Ratana Mahidol of Thailand presented the awards to the winners at a charity award luncheon in Hong Kong and nominated the Yuwaprasart Waithayopathum Child Psychiatric Hospital as her preferred charity.
Commenting on the awards, Peggy Teo, publisher of Business Traveller Asia-Pacific, said: ‘The subscribers of the magazine are among the most knowledgeable, experienced and committed travellers in the region. For Shangri-La to perform so outstandingly in the readers' poll two years running is a real tribute to excellence as well as remarkable consistency.'
