The whole world looks at Brazil: next year the FIFA World Cup will take place in the South American country and two years later the country will host the Summer Olympic Games.
More tourism advertising is impossible. Therefore several new mid class and luxury hotels will arise.
According to TOPHOTELPROJECTS, the worldwide leading provider of global b2b hotel data, there are currently 46 large top hotels with more than 9,000 rooms in the pipeline.
Several further hotel projects are currently in planning, informs the Brazilian tourism ministry. The number of hotel construction projects could increase to more than 400 – with and total investment volume of more than 5,3 billion US-Dollar. This data has been revealed by a hotel construction study.
More than 70,000 further hotel rooms could be added until 2016. Thanks to these new hotels about 34,000 jobs will be created, says the study.
Just for the FIFA World Cup (12th June until 13th July 2014) 13 new top hotels arise in the sites of the World Cup Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte.

Large hotel companies such as Accor (six new hotel projects), Hilton, Hyatt, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), Groupe de Louvre, Marriott and Starwood Hotels & Resorts invest in high class properties.
In autumn 2015 a Ritz-Carlton Hotel with 130 rooms and suites will open its doors in an upscale district in Rio de Janeiro (

In May next year – just in time for the FIFA World Cup – a new Sheraton Hotel with 289 rooms will be inaugurated in the city Cabo de Santo Agostinho near Recife. In March 2015 the opening of a luxury hotel by NH Collection with 180 rooms in Curitiba is planned.
