
Meliá Hotels International has announced further growth in Venezuela with the addition of its third hotel: the Meliá Puerto Ordaz, a new 150 room property scheduled to open in 2015.
As part of its growth strategy Meliá prioritizes alliances with local partners in high-growth countries and regions and in this case has reached a management contract with the Venezuelan company Inversiones Toro c A.
Puerto Ordaz is located in Bolivar state in southern Venezuela and is one of two communities that form Ciudad Guayana, a river port which is one of the fastest growing and most modern industrial centres in the country and the best planned city in Venezuela. Puerto Ordaz is home to the most important companies involved in iron, aluminium and steel production, the country's main export after oil, and also has one of the most powerful hydroelectric power plants in the world.
The economic dynamism of the region is complemented by the attractive national parks of Cachamay and Llovizna, famous for their waterfalls and lush vegetation, creating a tourism destination with great potential for growth for hotel investors and operators.

Meliá Puerto Ordaz will be a five-star hotel operated under the Meliá Hotels and Resorts brand, which currently operates more than 90 hotels in major cities and tourist destinations worldwide all offering high service standards and excellent facilities .
The hotel will be located in the central area of Los Saltos de Puerto Ordaz and will feature 150 rooms, a restaurant, a lobby bar, pool, gym, spa area and facilities for events and meetings.
The company continues to grow in Latin America, a strategic growth markets in which currently it currently operates 63 hotels in 12 countries with more than 21,000 rooms, with another 15 hotels pending opening in Brazil, Chile, Peru, Venezuela, Cuba and Costa Rica.
