China remains the hotspot of the world's travel market with a 12.0% growth rate in the number of domestic travellers in 2012. China's air traffic also achieved a 9.2% growth rate on a year-to-year basis.

Bart Tompkins, Managing Director for Amadeus China said that technology would be crucial to unlocking the enormous potential of the Chinese travel industry.

"There is no doubt that innovative technology use by all players in the travel chain (including travel agencies, airlines and airports in China) will ensure more efficient management of greater passenger volumes without increasing costs."

"Since the CAAC eased the regulations to allow global distribution systems like Amadeus to operate in China last year, we have secured numerous agreements with travel agencies as well as international airlines that service China. We hope to play a key role in bringing about positive change to China's travel landscape very soon," added Tompkins.

Charlie Li, founder and CEO of TravelDaily added, "Amadeus consistently delivers insight into the Asian and Chinese markets. With 40% of the world's air travel processed through its travel agency network, we are proud to have them as our platinum sponsor for 2013."
