TripAdvisor announced the winners of its annual Travellers' Choice® Beach Destinations awards.
This year, 181 top beach locations were named around the world, covering 21 regions including lists for Africa, Asia, Australia, Brazil, Caribbean, Central America, Europe, France, Greece, India, Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, Middle East, South America, South Pacific, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, U.K. and the U.S.
Award winners were determined based on the most highly rated beach destinations by travellers in TripAdvisor reviews. Unlike any other honours, TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice winners are based on millions of valuable reviews and opinions from travellers around the world.
Palm-filled Boracay in the Philippines laid claim to the best beach destination in the whole of Asia. Nusa Dua with its long stretches of white beaches took the top spot in Indonesia while
Koh Phi Phi Don known for its classic beaches and rock formations took the top spot in Thailand.
"These beach destinations provide inspiration for travellers who are looking for a quick weekend getaway nearby or planning that perfect tropical retreat in a different country, as identified by TripAdvisor's community of travellers," said Jean Ow-Yeong, TripAdvisor spokesperson.
