Have you decided with whom you would be spending your next holiday with?

Hotels.com®, the world's leading hotel booking website, has conducted the latest Plus One Survey* to find out the preferences of global holidaymakers.

What are the deciding factors for Hong Kong travellers when they choose who to share a room with? According to the survey conducted by Hotels.com, Hong Kong travellers (26%) would like to have a trustworthy roommate the most.

Furthermore, 21% of the recipients find it very important to have a roommate who is non-smoker, followed by sharing similar lifestyle values (9%). The survey also shows that 27% of Hong Kong travellers do not want to share a room with smoker. They find it disturbing to have a roommate who is cunning (20%) and disloyal (12%) too.

Meanwhile, if Hong Kong travellers were given a chance to share a room with local celebrities, their top three choices were Andy Lau (17%), Linda Chung (15%) and Daniel Wu (13%).

As for mainland Chinese and Taiwanese celebrities, most Hong Kong travellers chose to share a room with the popular heartthrob Michelle Chen (28%), super model Lin Chi-ling (14%) and famous television host Dee Hsu (13%). Huang Xiaoming (10%), a handsome actor in mainland China, was the next runner-up after the three iconic female celebrities.

When asked about choosing a celebrity to be their room attendant during their hotel stay, the top three local celebrities Hong Kong travellers chosen are three charming actors Andy Lau (22%), Chow Yun fat (14%) and Daniel Wu (13%).

Hong Kong travellers picked Tokyo (14 %) as their number one wish-list destination if they were given a free night extra hotel stay. The romantic city of Paris (10%) was the second most popular choice. Surprisingly, Hong Kong ranked third (6%), probably reflecting that respondents consider hotel stay as a good weekend retreat in the city.

Zoe Chan, Senior PR Manager, Asia Pacific for Hotels.com, commented: "It's through surveys like this that Hotels.com continues to learn what travellers want and need, which is how our loyalty program was born. Our customers said they wanted a simple and easy-to-use loyalty program so we created Welcome Rewards**. This gives our customers, and their favourite ‘plus one' travel mate, one free night for every ten nights stayed across more than 65,000 hotels around the world."
