The ITB this year again seems to fulfil its self awarded title "greatest in world" with organisers anouncing that the first and second day recorded number of trade visitors as high as 2008.
If the trend remains stable, it will exceed 100.000 trade visitors over the remianing days. "In comparison to other fairs this is just brilliant", ITB senior manager David Ruetz commented happily.
Moreover the number of trade visitors has increased remarkably. So far 45% of the visitors have been tourism professionals, the total share last year was 38%.
After some talks with exhibitors and salesmen Ruetz dares a first rough resume: "The exhibitors are very contented with their deals and the visitors' competence." His spokesman Michael Hofer added: "The first three days we did register more business transaction than in 2008."
The last two days traditionally are open to the public – and the already frosty weather in Berlin promises a satisfying final result, too – for as the forecasts pronounce heavy rains, probably masses of Berliners are going to decide to take a quick holiday from winter's end inside the heated and colourful ITB halls, Ruetz may count on.
An estimated total of 170.000 visitors then might be probable.
