According to the China National Tourism Administration, China recorded approximately US$185 billion in tourism income in 2009, reflecting a growth of 9% from 2008.

Domestic tourism income was estimated at approximately US$146 billion, growing 15% from the previous year.

Foreign exchange earnings were forecast to be approximately US$39 billion as both the inbound and outbound tourism markets are expected to continue their uptrends in the next few years.
